First two weeks of class, who are all these 9th graders?

I have made it through two weeks of class and I am really loving it. Granted I'm only taking one class, but I really like being there. I also found out that in order to get financial aid I have to have 4 credits and not just 3 so I've added a practicum credit working in the child development lab on campus 3 hours a week. I get to help in the toddler room, I'm looking forward to it.

I also feel a million years old on campus. There are all these 18 year olds walking around in their pajamas and it dates me quite a bit.

I am leaving on Friday morning to attend a Suzuki teacher class called "Suzuki Principles in Action" in Steven's Point WI. The class it two days long and focuses on how to improve your teaching. After the class I will be starting a year long mentorship program with Pat D'Ercole. We will be filming our teaching and then discussing it with Pat and two other teachers in the program. I am really excited for what this year will bring for my teaching. I feel like I'm on the edge of something really big and this year is going to be an amazing journey.

I'll bring y'all back some cheese.....

We're still here, with some news

No pictures-sorry, but I have exciting news! Scott did a great job at his Master's proposal defense and after a short one month research project and some finishing touches on his paper he'll graduate in December. Scott's program is a combined Masters and Ph.D so we stay put for another three years, but any kind of graduating is good news.

News #2 We got a new kitty. We've been thinking about getting Gimli some company for awhile and Scott's labmate had to give up his cat when he went away to grad school. So instead of going to a shelter she came to live with us. The two cats are very slowly getting to know each other. We think they will be friends eventually.

News #3 I've decided to go back and get my Master's degree in Child Development. I took the GRE last Monday and I think I did well enough to get accepted. I been accepted as a non-degree student so I will start classes next week. In October the department will review my application and hopefully I'll be accepted into the program. I'm really excited to get started.

Besides all of that news things are great. Scott and I are celebrating our 5 year anniversary this weekend. We're having a great time and loving life here in Nebraska.

Okay, I don't know when I'll get better at this

Reasons we're not blogging:

1)Scott has had to go to the lab EVERY SINGLE DAY since Christmas Day (and we got snowed in that day, or else he would have needed to go in then as well). I don't remember the last time he got to come to church with me. This is a picture of him in his lab coat when he brought it home to wash it.

2)This sweet little girl came to stay with us for the weekend when she was sick and her mom (and dad) had a brand new baby and they couldn't be in the same house for awhile. She is taking violin lessons and was playing with my box violin and singing Tucka Tucka Stop Stop while doing her listening. The video is very short and very cute.

3)I am an avid user of Google Reader now so I don't visit our blog very often, which reminds me how long it's been since I've blogged.

4)I also got sucked into watching Gilmore Girls on DVD and it's ridiculous how much time I've spent with those ladies.

We are doing super great. My studio is thriving (10 more students and then I'm full!) Scott just doesn't stop working and Gimli has become quite social even when strangers are in the house.
